I hope to and plan to use many of these things in the future.

This program has assisted me in continuing to see how technology can be used in so many different ways.

I was really surprised at the free software that is compatible to Microsoft Office.
What could we do differently to improve upon this program’s format or concept?

I just wish that I had more time to explore each thing.
I think YouTube and TeacherTube are great resources to use in the library and classroom. It is a great tool that encourage learners through many visual learning too that can reach more learners in a new way. I found a video that would be great to practice sight words. This is a great transition video that can be used to review words in the classroom.

This a great tool that can be used throughout the education field. I personally like this tool because users are allowed to create documents that is compatible on any computer and its FREE!!!! I have been a MAC user and PC has not always been my first choice. I have been challenged to buy software to be able to complete assignments. A site like this makes creating, similar to Microsoft Office.

When purchasing computers adding Word Processing and things found in Microsoft Office can be expensive (it is not included software) and is usually offered only through a trial period. Students can use this resource at home and at school, cutting the cost of software for schools. Disadvantages might include whether or not its as accessible to all audiences. It also a tool that is not as popular as Microsoft Office, so getting users involved could be a challenge.

Love it!Erica Martinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09441961221390900570noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8299197838378288786.post-81474923312958839422010-07-06T13:43:00.000-07:002010-07-06T13:50:43.076-07:00Thing #17Wow! I think that in the classroom that teachers can be used in a way for resources for teachers, parents, and staff. I think that teachers can use Wiki's for lesson plans and other tools to get ideas for lessons. I published my thoughts about 23 Things on the Spring Branch ISD Wiki, or sandbox, describing my experience while utilizing the Wiki.

Teachers can use Wiki's to get information out to student's, parent's, and community. A wiki can be a great way to inform parents of what is going on in the classroom. A wiki can allow parents the opportunity to ask questions and update information.

Although I have been familiar with Wiki's I am sad to say that may of my fellow teachers are unaware of Wiki's. I think that it is unfortunate because it is a great resource that can be utilized by users in a quick and easy way.

Erica Martinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09441961221390900570noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8299197838378288786.post-55221694265374675682010-07-06T12:41:00.000-07:002010-07-06T12:51:54.995-07:00Thing #15Library 2.0 is a term that is used to described the "update" and new 21st century library. I think that it means that it is an attempt to coin the evolution of the changing library system.

In the school library I think that it means that things are changing. Instead of thinking of a library as a place for books and research, libraries are now integrated and infused with technology.

To a temporary place in time is an article by Dr. Wendy Schultz. In her description of Library 2.0 she believes the same idea that the library has changed. She puts a great emphasis on technology and the influence it has had on books and reading. I think that this article did a great job of describing how and why 2.0 is a great tool that has helped evolve the library. She also projects what libraries will ideally become in the future and the inclusion of more technology.
Erica Martinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09441961221390900570noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8299197838378288786.post-60835232017639958642010-07-03T09:19:00.000-07:002010-07-03T09:42:14.062-07:00Thing #14Technorati was a bit confusing when I first wen to the site. Popular blogs on the site was under construction. Teachers can use this tool to categorize sites that students can benefit from and label them according to subjects. Teachers can use this tool as a way to tag sites for their productivity. Librarians can utilize tags by organize appropriate links to authors sites and genre driven books/sites that are student friendly.

There are times when they are a nuisance when people are writing things that are inappropriate to what is relevant. The tags sometimes get in my way too, but overall a great tool and fun to use!Erica Martinhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09441961221390900570noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8299197838378288786.post-35205933234440867642010-07-02T22:10:00.000-07:002010-07-03T08:45:10.868-07:00Thing #11Library Thing is site that can be used to catalog books. Logging onto Blogger for the first time in months I immediately noticed changes that had been added to the site. I find the Blogger site a simple and easy way to create a blog. It allowed me as a user, new to this technology to learn about the tools available to my blog easy to manage. The addition to gadgets available for use on the blog had increased as well as the selection of designs.

Creating an Avatar was something that was new to me.
